Meðfylgjandi er auglýsing í rannsóknastöðu hjá Iternational Mobility á Ítalíu:
An Italian R&D company working in the field of nanocomposites
(www.cimteclab.it) is looking for a researcher interested in applying for an IntraEuropean fellowship concerning the design and development of new nanoparticles, on the basis of the industrial needs in the thermosetting field. The nanoparticles to be improved and/or newly designed comprise nano metal oxides, layered double hydroxides and layered silicates, any of which can be useful for the development of different product categories.
Please find below the company profile and what they could offer the researcher.
I would be most grateful if you could disseminate this profile among potentially interested parties in your countries.
Thank you very much for your collaboration!
Best Regards,

Marie Curie, Iternational Mobility, Cimteclab Srl – Italy
Cimteclab Srl, an Italian R&D company working in the nanocomposite field (www.cimteclab.it), is looking for a suitable cadidate to apply for the Marie Curie Actions in the FP7 of the Euopean Community.
The company works in the field of innovative polymeric composite materials, carying out R&D projects for several industrial applications, from high pressuregas cylinders and pipes for water, oil/gas and cryogenic fluids transportation, to UV curable coating for the wood/furniture industry.
Cimteclab is particularly active in the field of polymeric nanocomposite materials for the enhancement of properties like flame retardancy, gas and liquid barrier, hardness and toughness.
Cimteclab actrivities involve product innovation on the basis of internal needs or external research projects with the selection of matrices (thermoplastic and thermosetting), reinforcements and additives (nano and/or micro). Furthermore Cimteclab follows product and process engineering and project management.
The project:
The research project for the reasearch and training activity of this fellowship comprises the design and development of new nanoparticles, on the basis of the industrial needs in the thermosetting field. The nanoparticles to be improved and/or newly designed comprise nano metal oxides, layered double hydroxides and layered silicates, any of which can be useful for the development of different product categories.
The nanofillers to be devloped will be halogen-free flame retardant additives for bulk and coating materials, mineral charges that improve barrier properties to gases and/or fluids, additives for cryogenic applications, nanofillers for the improvement of surface properties (scratch resistance, abrasion resistance, weathering resistance and anti-fouling properties).
The nanoparticles will be sinthesized starting by water or solvent-soluble precursors by the means of well known sol-gel processes that will need specific tailoring to obtain the desired results in terms of composition and morphology of the mineral nanoparticle. In this fhase the target will be the formulation of a stable concentrated collidal suspension of nanoparticles by the means of suitable stabilizers (counter-ions, not-reactive organic molecules, surfactants, etc.)
Subsequently the nanoparticles will need a specific surface modification to be then dispersed in suitable organic fluids, such as different kinds of thermosetting resins (epoxy, vinylester, polyester, epoxy-acrylate, urethane-acrylate). This step will involve the choice of the better surfactant on the basis of chemical compatibility and/or binding with the nanoparticle and with the organic matrice to be subsequently used.
The last formulating step will be the transfer of the nanoparticles form the water/organic solvent to the thermosetting matrix, to obtain a predispersed concentrated batch of resin with nanofiller. To achieve this task different cosolvents and/or emulsifying agents will be tested, to perform the best possible phase transfer, avoiding reaggregation of the nanofiller both in pure resins and in emulsion formulations.
The first nanofillers to be synthesized, modified and tested will be nanosilica (scratch and abrasion resistance in coatings, barrier properties in films), nanotitania (weathering resistance, antibacterial/antifouling
properties) and layered double hydroxides (flame retardancy, barrier properties).
The candidate:
The eligible candidate will be a post-doc or have at least 4 years of post-graduate research experience. He/She shall be national of a Member State or Associated Country other than Italy. At the deadline for the application (August 2007) the candidate shall not have resided in Italy for more than 12 months during the previous 3 years.
Non-national of Member State or Associated Country shall have legally resided in a Member State or Associated Country for at least 3 years out of the last 4 years. The successful candidate shall have a strong chemical/materials science background, with deep knowledge of polymeric matrices and their technological applications. Moreover the candidate shall be experienced in inorganic and hybrid nanoplarticle synthesis (silica, nano-oxides, layered silicates...), organic modification of the nanoparticles and dispersion in organic media.
The candidate will have the opportunity to take part in the development of new nanoparticles design and synthesis on laboratory scale and to the industrial scale up of such synthesis. The project will also comprise the organic modification and dispersion of the nanoparticles in different matrices as well as the characterizations of the obtained systems.
In dependence of the type of nanoparticles and the polymer matrix the composites will be tested for their flame retardant/resistant properties (bulk and coatings), gas/moisture barrier properties, abrasion and sctrath resistance, weathering resistance, antiseptic characteristics, surface appeance (coatings for metals, wood, etc.).
